How to prepare for your appointment

Horse Chiropractic treatment

  • Your horse needs to be dry for a treatment

  • Brushing off any thick mud would be appreciated

  • If your horse is lame then it needs to be seen by a vet and permission for treatment by that vet given

  • Have a head collar on your horse

  • A quiet space that your horse feels relaxed and comfortable in is ideal for treatment this can be a field (weather permitting), stable, yard or any safe space.

  • If your horse has any cuts or abrasions I can still treat, I will just avoid those areas. Anything that can be spread or is contagious then the appointment will be re-arranged until your horse is better.

  • If your horse has any signs of illness or infection then the appointment should be rearranged until the horse has been seen by the vet and is feeling better.

  • If you have a nervous or young horse then touching them regularly all over will really help get them used to being treated. Focusing on areas like the poll, ears and between the legs helps hugely. I am used to working with young and nervous horses so it is not a problem and we will just take things slower and make sure they are happy and comfortable with the process

Dog Chiropractic treatment

  • If your dog is lame then it needs to be seen by a vet and permission for treatment by that vet given

  • Have a slip lead or collar and lead on your dog as a harness will obscure the areas that I need to treat.

  • A quiet space that your dog feels relaxed and comfortable in is ideal for treatment.

  • If your dog has any cuts or abrasions I can still treat, I will just avoid those areas. Anything that can be spread or is contagious then the appointment will be re-arranged until your dog is better.

  • If your dog has any signs of illness or infection then the appointment should be rearranged until the dog has been seen by the vet and is feeling better.

  • If you have a nervous or young dog then touching them regularly all over will really help get them used to being treated. Being comfortable with having their bellies, legs, bottoms and feet touched makes the treatment safer and more relaxing.

Saddle Fitting

  • Please allow at least 1 ½ hours for the saddle fitting session.

  • We will expect to see your horse trotted up in-hand and ridden by their usual rider/s, so please be prepared to have them clean and dry and preferably already wearing a suitable bridle and any other boots etc. that you would normally ride in. If you are unable to carry out the in-hand trot up, please be prepared to have someone assist.

  • Please provide an area to complete the ridden assessment so that we are able to adequately test the saddle.

  • It is your decision to wear protective clothing (hat, gloves, body protector, appropriate footwear etc.) during the saddle fitting session but we strongly recommend that you do use the appropriate safety gear.

  • We recommend all riders hold adequate rider’s insurance and third-party liability cover for their animals.

  • Please provide a safe space for us to complete the consultation.
